Country Club Contract Canceled

Country Club Contract Canceled

UPDATED:  10:30AM
Food and Beverage Operations contract has been canceled at the Miami Springs Country Club.  The issue stems around a contract dispute with the operator, Amber 18 Holes.

Amber 18 Holes received the contract to operate the Food and Beverage Operations back in January of 2017.  Here’s the resolution from the city:

RESOLUTION NO. 2017 – 3691

A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI SPRINGS, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE COUNTRY CLUB FOOD AND BEVERAGE AGREEMENT WITH AMBER 18 HOLES SERVICES, LLC; AUTHORIZING WITH CONDITIONS THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE SAME; PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE

In March, the City revised the contract and gave the operator a one year rate reduction greater than 50% of the originally contracted rate.  The discounted amount was to then be repaid to the City at the end of the contract.  However, it seems that will not be happening any time soon.

“The City has terminated the contract with the previously-approved food and beverage operator .  As a result, the food and beverage operations should not be continuing, but ensuing litigation will resolve the matter soon.  The City will then take over operation until another provider is competitively solicited and contracted. ”  – City of Miami Springs City Manager, William Alonso.

We asked the City Manager about upcoming events and if those events are still on or canceled as well.  Here’s his response:

“Although the contract has been terminated, the operator has refused to vacate the premises so we are seeking a court order to have him vacate.   We do not know if that will happen in time to affect weekend events.”
