MS Resident and Bal Harbour Police Chief Passes Away After Short Fight with Cancer

We’re sad to report the untimely passing of long time Miami Springs resident and Bal Harbour Police Chief, Miguel De La Rosa.  Chief De La Rosa (just 49 years old) passed Saturday evening, after a short fight with cancer.  He was loved by his peers, friends, and family.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Miguel De La Rosa’s wife, daughters, twin brother, sister, and his entire extended family and friends.  As anyone who got to meet De La Rosa knew, he was a very nice man who always had a smile and a great attitude.

Chief De La Rosa’s twin brother, Miami Springs resident, and Fire Chief for the Coral Gables Fire Department, Marcos De La Rosa, posted the following heart breaking message on Twitter:

Miami-Dade State Attorney, Katherine Fernandez Rundle was quoted on Local10 describing Miguel De La Rosa as “…a great law enforcement professional.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family and his beloved sister, who is one of my dear (State Attorney’s Office) team members.”

Bal Harbour Village Manager was quoted by NBC 6 declaring, “The Village of Bal Harbour will do everything it can to support his family and honor this remarkable man, father, and colleague.”
