As is normal protocol, the Miami-Dade Police Department took over the homicide investigation of the fatal shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, June 18, 2018, at the Miami Springs IHOP parking lot located at South Drive and NW 36 Street.

The victim of the shooting has been identified as Junior Catilus, a 25 year old black male.

Anyone with information regarding the homicide is requested to contact Miami-Dade Police Homicide Detective, D. Lipscomb at 305.471.2400.  If you wish to stay anonymous, you may contact Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305.471.TIPS.

If the tip leads to the arrest of the subject, the tipster may be eligible for a reward upt to $3,000.

Traffic was ensnarled for hours as westbound N.W. 36th Street was closed off and diverted north onto East Drive.

The IHOP has been no stranger to criminal activities, with countless vehicle break-ins as well as various arrests of suspected vehicle burglars by the Miami Springs Police Department.  This, however, is the first shooting at the location.
